Initial Contact

In general, I suggest we have a short phone-call before we meet, so I can find out whether therapy with me might be right for you. I won’t charge for this phone call.

It’s a chance for you to share a bit more about what is going on for you now, and a bit about your life. We’ll talk more about how I work, and I’ll give you a chance to experience this directly as well. We’ll discuss how our arrangement might work going forward and you’ll be able to ask any questions you may have about therapy too.

What next?

Therapy with me is a weekly commitment. If therapy is a good fit for you, I’ll offer you a slot in the same window each week. Sessions last 50 minutes - which is sometimes referred to as the therapeutic hour.

It’s very important to me that you find a therapist where you feel safe and able to be yourself without judgement. Having tried out and worked with a number of therapists myself, both before I started my private practice, and during my training and practice, I know first hand how much difference this can make.

This can take more than one session for you to get some clarity on. What I suggest is that we view the first six to eight sessions as something of a trial period, for you to explore and reflect on what you’re learning and how its feeling. At any time during that window, if something’s not feeling good, I invite you to let me know - if you feel comfortable to do that - or simply to let me know that it’s not a fit right now.

A good therapist will understand.

 

Availability

In-person
I currently work Monday to Friday on The Terrace, in the Wellington CBD. Sessions are generally fifty minutes at the same time/s each week.

Online or phone
If you need to travel occasionally for work, we can do our session online or over the phone. If you’re not sure how this will work, your best bet is to enquire with me directly.

Please be aware that most online conferencing programmes have some security and/or privacy limitations. A year or so ago Skype was said to be somewhat more secure than Zoom, which is why I chose it as my preferred platform.

 
 
 
 

Location

In-person sessions will be held in my room at The Practice, 85 The Terrace (Level 6). For online sessions, I use Skype, and for phone calls I will call you on your chosen number.

Cancellation policy

Therapy with me is a weekly commitment. This means you agree to attend every week. If you are feeling concerned about attending your session in-person due to cold symptoms, we can do our session over Skype or phone.
