Love like you love
I want to love like you love
with the patience
of the aching pavement
pounded
I want to love like you love
with the humility of an anchor
holding fast in heavy weather
grounded
I want to love like you love
inked in the force of the quiet artist
who draws
you with
her beauty
calm as the chase of an ancient planet
who calls
to you
like gravity
I want to love
with the freedom of a wi l d f i r e
without regret
the restraint of a lake
content to reflect
the strength of a sea
that could sink the intellect
I want to love like you love
abundant like expanding skies
and tender like a million years
of marinating time
I want to love like you love
when I'm alone
like the single red flower glowing
by the pathway to my home
and even when it feels like you’re gone.
I want to love like you love.
